M. Carleton McHenry, CFP® is a native Texan who has spent just about his entire working career helping people properly plan and achieve their financial goals and dreams.

Carleton has been quoted in Smart Money and has written numerous articles for FI Guide related to various investment, financial, and retirement based topics. Carleton initially started his career with Merrill Lynch.
Carleton received his formal financial planning education through UC Irvine’s Personal Financial Planning Certificate program, and he has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin’s McCombs School of Business where he majored in finance.
Carleton initially attended Cornell University in Ithaca, NY for two years where he studied hospitality management and had a brief stint playing NCAA collegiate football as a wide receiver and running back.
Carleton is a member of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA), the organization dedicated to promoting the fee-only, fiduciary financial advisory model.
In his spare time, Carleton prefers to be outdoors usually fishing if at all possible. He likes saltwater fishing down on the Texas coast for speckled trout and redfish as well as freshwater fishing for bass, trout, and muskie throughout the country and in Canada. Hunting and golfing are other less frequent passions of his.
